Jr. rocket owls
A total number of 27 fifth-grade students from the Glendora Unified School District have successfully started the 2016-2017 Junior Rocket Owls year-long program at Citrus College. The young students work in teams under the facilitative leadership of the Rocket Owls to design, build and fly model rockets, while applying physics principles to predict the performance of their rockets and use mathematical models to analyze their data. Good luck to the young rocketeers!

it's rocket math!
This year-long program consists of a series of workshops designed to emphasize the mathematics applications to rocketry. Seventh grade GATE students from Glendora Unified middle schools are working in teams under the leadership of the Citrus College Rocket Owls on rocketry projects culminating with designing, building and launching a 2-foot tall rocket with a projected altitude of over 600 feet. The middle school students are improving their math skills and gaining technical writing skills while developing technical and scientific reports under the guidance of their college mentors. They are enhancing their teamwork and communication skills while working in teams to create and present professional posters at the Symposium that will take place at the end of the program.
